West Poplar Nehemiah Homes, located on the fringe of Center City Philadelphia, is an affordable housing project with 185 homes designed for homeownership. Numerous meetings were held with the community to ensure their desires were understood and incorporated. The goal was to reduce the density of the area and create a more spacious community. Success and economy were achieved by utilizing a straightforward design that was enriched with front porches and brick facades. The project has become the model for other urban redevelopment projects in the city.
