With the relocation of Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children to a new facility came the commitment to redevelop the existing 250,000 SF facility into specific uses that would be an asset to the surrounding community.
A plan was designed to subdivide the facility, untangling the complex interconnections established over the years. Alternative uses were identified for each area and funding obtained resulting in 74 new affordable rental housing units and a new 50,000 SF school designed by Blackney Hayes Architects. All the designs conformed to PHFA and HUD standards.
