November 30, 2023 -- Blackney Hayes has been working with the Kennett Area Park Authority, the Friends of Anson B. Nixon Park, and community stakeholders to envision the future of the Water Works complex on park property in Kennett Square!
This portion of the park has a long, rich history. It was originally a paper mill that boasted the first circular saw in Chester County. In 1876, it became the municipal water source for the Borough of Kennett Square and served the community until 1984 when the Borough began purchasing water from the Chester Water Authority.
Together, we are designing a future where new opportunities for gathering, recreation, and education are available alongside featured components of the original Water Works infrastructure that honor this site's historical significance to the community.
