Christy is an interior designer with a background in retail visual merchandising and photography. She graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design and earned a graduate degree in interior architecture from Drexel University. Prior to changing careers, she worked for URBN, where she collaborated on creating merchandising concepts for Anthropologie stores in Boston and Philadelphia. Art often dictates her travel plans, and she tries to go abroad every year. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, taking art classes, searching for mid-century furniture, and working with a local cat rescue. She's originally from Cincinnati, but currently lives in West Philadelphia.
Joanna is an incoming 4th year architecture major and construction management minor at Drexel University. She is the President of Drexel AIAS and is involved in the organization at her school as well as represent Drexel at national conferences. Besides architecture, she is a passionate artist and has always had an eye for creativity. You can usually find her with a sketchbook in hand, ready to document memories. She is from New York, and loves to visit home to spend time with her family. Some of her hobbies are traveling, doing water sports, painting, gardening, and knitting. She is also interested in photography, as she likes to take photos, which she then uses as references for hand drawn portraits of meaningful people in her life. Her favorite medium in art is watercolor because she appreciates how quickly and intentionally mood and style can be expressed. Whether it is art or architecture, she always adds a personal touch and style into the visualizations she creates. She continues to use these same skills and passion within the workplace and is eager to learn as much as she can from Blackney Hayes to evolve even more as an architectural designer and grow within this amazing team!
Joe is joining BHA as an architectural team member. His primary design experience is residential, from single-family urban infill homes to wood frame over concrete podium apartments wrapping parking decks. He currently resides in Charlotte with his wife Candace, son Xander, and recently adopted pet bird, Soleil, a 6-year-old sun conure. When he's not wrangling toddlers or cleaning bird enclosures, he can be found on the basketball court honing his rickety jump-shot or disc golf course where he maintains a near-astronomical handicap and tenuous concept of what constitutes a “fairway”. He pulls for Clemson Tigers, Dallas Mavericks, Charlotte-area and Pittsburgh-area sports teams. Joe and his wife hold English as a Second Language teacher certifications and taught business English at a variety of companies in Prague (Czechia, not Oklahoma) for 2 years before relocating to Philadelphia from winter 2014 to summer 2016.
Robyn is a project architect and recently moved to Philadelphia from Asheville, North Carolina. She has a background in both commercial and custom residential design. Her design approach focuses on the human psychology of architecture; how we move through, inhabit, and are affected by the built environment. Outside of practicing architecture, a lot of her time is spent outdoors. Robyn and her husband like to take their three dogs hiking and spend time growing their own vegetables and herbs. She has also been riding horses since she was nine years old and is looking forward to finding a new place to ride in Philly.
