BHA engages in projects in multiple markets including Education, Hospitality, Multi-Family Housing, Corporate, and Healthcare. Our projects range in scope and size from extensive multi-phased renovation and expansion projects to new construction. BHA is looking for a project architect who is ready and willing to collaborate with our multidisciplinary team. The candidate shall demonstrate his or her success coordinating with consulting team members and work both independently as well as within a project team. This person must be self-motivated, collaborative, personable, and flexible. Ability to support projects within various market segments and to move fluidly between markets is necessary. This position requires a certain level of independence, but ultimately, our company culture is based on teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare a clear and coordinated set of drawings and specifications
- Understand the contract and what is included in our scope of work
- Implement the design intent set forth by the Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager
- Understand the building requirements: the program, the budget, the building systems, details, phasing
- Understand the applicable codes for a project
- Understand and manage the project schedule
- Manage tasks for staff assigned to the project
- Provide guidance/mentoring appropriate to staff levels
- Manage design team coordination, including all outside consultants
- Manage internal and external project communication
Required Skills:
- Technical proficiency in building science and detailing
- Proficiency in Revit
- Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate with our in-house team members including managing expectations, goals, and responsibilities.
- Good organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, and ability to work in a team environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Accredited Bachelor or Master of Architecture degree
- Architectural registration is preferred, but not required
- 6 years minimum experience
- Positive attitude with intrinsic motivation - willingness to learn and ask questions is a must
BHA engages in projects of various scopes and sizes, from moderate interior fit-outs to extensive multi-phased renovation and expansion projects in Corporate, Hospitality, and Healthcare. BHA is looking for an interior design project manager who is ready and willing to lead projects, mentor our team of designers, and collaborate with our multidisciplinary team. The candidate shall demonstrate his or her success working with consulting team members including architects, real estate developers, furniture dealers, lighting designers, manufacturers, and product representatives and efficiently maintaining clear and open communication. This person must be self-motivated, collaborative, personable, and flexible. This position requires independence, but ultimately, our company culture is based on teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and verify programming with clients (as required by project type)
- Work with the principal in charge and the project lead designer(s) in creating interior environments which serve the client’s goals and responds to their desired spatial needs, image and aesthetic requirements
- Develop code compliant designs
- Select appropriate finish materials and furnishings
- Direct the development of presentation materials including 3D renderings
- Lead and participate in design presentations to the client
- Collaborate with lighting designer to develop lighting concepts and initial fixture selection
- Coordinate work with other disciplines
- Collaborate with the design team in articulating design principles that help govern the detailing phase of the project
- Execute and enhance the design intent while preparing the construction documents
- Work with architecture and the engineering disciplines to ensure a consistent development of the project towards the design concepts established in earlier phases
- Develop project and furniture specifications and other technical requirements of projects
- Prepare submittal responses, shop drawing review and construction site visits
- Prepare interiors and furniture punch lists
- Manages multiple small/medium projects, coordinates all aspects of assigned projects, and estimates scope of work. Has full responsibility for managing all aspects of multiple small to midsize projects.

Skills & Requirements
- Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture
- NCIDQ certified or actively seeking certification preferred, but not required
- 10 years minimum experience as part of a Project Team, working with a lead designer preferably working in the Corporate, Hospitality, and/or Healthcare fields
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate with our in-house team members including managing expectations, goals and responsibilities
- Proficiency in Revit is required
- Experience in Photoshop, SketchUp and InDesign is a plus but not required
- Knowledge of interior architectural detailing
- Comprehensive understanding of finish materials and their application, FFE specification experience preferred
- Excellent graphic skills
- Good organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities and ability to work in a team environment
