  • Preserving History Amid Transformation

Blending Revitalization with Historic Preservation on Chestnut Street

The transformation of the 1100 block of Chestnut Street was part of a $70 million redevelopment plan in which all former buildings in half a city block were demolished save one – the Oppenheim Collins & Company Store, a mid-1920s treasure.

  • Modern Living, Historic Inspiration

Sustainable Design with Timeless Architecture Elements

In its place, Blackney Hayes erected a new LEED-certified structure that connects to and imitates the height, architecture, and features of the Oppenheim. Housed within these structures are 104 loft-style apartments, along with eight 2-story duplexes above 95,000 square feet of retail space.

  • Redefining Urban Living

    Community-Focused Design with Breathtaking Views

A roof deck features a communal sky lounge with fireplace, a living area, a warming kitchen, and an exterior terrace with views facing Chestnut Street. “This project stands as an example of what major urban revitalization can look like,” said Principal John Hayes, “and how design can contribute to the well-being of a city.”
