  • Reimagining History, Building the Future

Transforming a Manufacturing Plant into a Modern Office

When Flaster Greenberg outgrew its original office, the firm saw an opportunity to reimagine a piece of history. They turned to Blackney Hayes to transform a former American Standard manufacturing plant in Hamilton, NJ. The goal? To honor the building’s industrial heritage while crafting a space that blends modern functionality with timeless character.

  • Industrial Heritage Meets Modern Vision

Preserving History and Blending Contemporary Design Elements

The building’s legacy was defined by its long line of kilns. To honor this history, the Blackney Hayes team preserved several kilns as striking architectural features, backlighting them to enhance their visual impact. Contemporary offices were designed to blend seamlessly with exposed steel and brick, maintaining the building’s industrial charm. “The historic character of the building is in keeping with the firm’s longevity,” Principal Michele Barnett noted, “while the modern details show its progressive ideology, providing a distinctive open, industrial feel.”
