Transforming Vision into Reality
A Home Becomes a Family Space and Architectural Gallery
At Blackney Hayes, we’re all about making a vision come to life—and that’s exactly what we did for an artist in Bryn Mawr. The home was transformed into not only a space for family—it became an architectural statement and a gallery for her work.
Comprehensive Renovation and Design
Thoughtful Additions Reimage the Entire home and Landscape
The original home, built in the 1980s, underwent a complete renovation, which included two -additions, a first-floor master suite, and a dedicated painting studio and office. Blackney Hayes also reimagined the landscape, from expansive patios to a beautiful pool, and provided all the interior design, including custom millwork throughout. The result? A seamless blend of art, architecture, and life, all wrapped into one inspiring home.
Design that Reflects Vision
Materials, Colors, and Scale Create a Seamless Blend of Art and Architecture
“We tried to use materials and colors on the exterior that would accentuate each individual part and break up its overall mass,” explained principal Jennifer Crawford. “For the interior, we used a range of blue colors, from light to dark, to help the paintings stand out against the walls. And overall, I’m pleased at how we found ways to use what was existing about the structure, while also adding something new and original.”
