  • A Vision for a Home

Blending Modern Living with Fitler Square's Historic Charm

When a young couple decided to return to the historic neighborhood of their childhood, they envisioned more than just a house—they dreamed of a home that seamlessly combined their modern lifestyle with the character of Fitler Square. The property, once home to a single-family house, municipal garages, and an architect’s office, became the canvas for their ambitious 10,000 sq. ft., three-story residence.

  • Design Meets History

Harmonizing Contemporary Style with Timeless Architectural Character

Working closely with Blackney Hayes, the couple’s vision came to life. The design beautifully integrates contemporary aesthetics and functionality with the surrounding historic architecture, resulting in a residence that feels at home on its picturesque Philadelphia block while standing as a testament to forward-thinking design.

  • Living with Purpose

Thoughtful Design Connects Interior and Exterior for Seamless Family Living

“The design creates space for modern family living in a contextually sensitive way,” Principal Darin Jellison explains. In the interior, the public spaces flow into one another, private spaces remain tucked away, and all extend to the exterior onto various rooftop and courtyard living spaces. “In the end, we were all pleased with how well their modern lifestyle could fit within the site’s historic nature,” Jellison added. “The house is open and modern, and the flow between rooms makes the whole first floor feel gracious and spacious and interconnected.”
